A brief explanation about the site
TheConstructs is a website built on the theory that collective intelligence will yield a better result than any single individual. It is a phenomenon that has exploded recently on the internet, and embodied in such practices as Wikis (most notably Wikipedia and its offshots), social networking sites, social bookmarking sites, and the like. Many in the media have termed this phenomenon Web 2.0, and that description has become the dominant (if not overused) moniker. TheConstructs are built to serve as a platform for collaboration among members of the design and construction industry.
A Brief History of TheConstructs
TheConstructs was started by a Landscape Architect living and working in the Boston area named Jeff Alexander. (Hey, that's me!) Ok, now I can use first person singular. Always interested in creating exciting communities, utilizing emerging technologies, and social and cultural commentary, I thought creating this place would be an exciting way to combine all three!Sections of TheConstructs
There's a lot going on here. The following is a brief description of it.The Wiki
The Wiki is a section containing objective information. It contains information ranging from people and places to construction technologies and systems. The great thing about a wiki is that it is editable by anyone. So if you see a mistake or can add information, please don't hesitate. The single most significant advantage of a wiki is that it takes advantage of the "knowledge of crowds'. That is to say it subscribes to the belief that a group is collectively more intelligent than any individual. So by contributing, you only make this community stronger
Boards
the discussion Boards are a place for people to chat about pretty much anything. The Boards are separated by topic, and they are pretty self explanitory. So jump in!Articles
A place for... you guessed it, Articles! write about anything newsworthy. If you've recently worked on a project that you thought was particularly exciting, here is a place to share it with the world. Also acceptable is linking to articles on other sites and provide a brief description, then let the commenting begin and see what the community thinks.
RSS

From there, select the type of feed you want (RSS 1.0, RSS 2.0, ATOM, etc) and the section of the site you want the feed for (wiki, articles, etc) Then, select the "Get Feed" button. Use the information provided in your favorite news aggregator.
