Post Office Square
Post Office Square is comprised almost entirely of an urban park named the Norman B. Leventhal Park and is located in the heart of the Financial District in downtown Boston, MA.
Introduction
Norman B. Leventhal Park, located at Post Office Square, was designed by the landscape architecture firm The Halvorson Company. It is located in the heart of Boston's Financial District and sits atop an underground parking garage. The park was officially dedicated in 1997 by Boston Mayor Thomas M. Menino. Since its completion, Post Office Square has been one of the most popular urban parks in the city.
Elements
Although small, Post Office square has many amenities.
The Arbor
Lit at night and containing climbing vines and hanging flower baskets during the summer, the arbor servers as a quiet and cool place.
The Large Fountain
The large fountain allows for interaction with the water. The lack of physical boundary allows anyone to approach and enter the fountain.
The Open Lawn
The open lawn servers as a large, green open space.
